Writing is an existential craft
Life is short, writing is long(ivity)
Writing is being and existence
When all is said and done
Only those who would have written
Would have existed
When all is said and done
And everything under the sun
Goes back to square one
The Written word survives in the long run
Since 2010, the Eko Foundation for the Furtherance of Literature (EFFL) has made it its vocation to promote African literature by supporting writers: poets, dramatists, novelists, essayists, and others who wield the pen as a weapon against ignorance, intolerance, and abuse of power. The focus of the EFFL is on African minority ethnic and linguistic cultures whose voices have not been heard in the global marketplace of literature, culture and ideas. EFFL’s main partner has been the Cameroon Anglophone Writers’ Association (ACWA). The EFFL and ACWA have jointly recognized and honored established and emerging writers who have defied the odds and told stories of the human condition: Sheer grit, the stubborn will to survive, to exist, and to thrive in the face of oppression, injustice and the darkness of death that lurk in every corner, and just beyond every horizon.
